Morpheus8: Revolutionary Non-Surgical Skin Rejuvenation Treatment

Morpheus8 is a non-surgical skin tightening technique that uses radiofrequency radiation and Microneedling to rejuvenate the skin’s tone and texture. The procedure is much less invasive than cosmetic surgery, such as a facelift, and the results last for about one to three years, depending on the person and their skin care regimen.

Microneedling involves the use of very fine, very short needles to puncture the surface of the skin. This stimulates the skin’s natural healing process and the production of collagen and elastin, substances that help the skin look smooth and young. Radiofrequency radiation (RF) focuses low-frequency electromagnetic waves deep into the skin to heat it up, which also stimulates production of new cells, collagen and elastin.

Morpheus8 is a handheld device that delivers these two types of treatment at the same time. The Microneedling works the surface of the skin while the RF heat penetrates into deeper layers. The combination of the two facial rejuvenation technologies activates the upper and lower layers of skin. The effects of the RF treatment support and augment the effects of the Microneedling. Morpheus8 can customize the depth of the Microneedling and RF heat penetration for each patient, allowing greater precision in achieving the goals for treatment.

Let’s take an in-depth look at this versatile treatment method that dermatologists use to solve a wide range of skin care problems.

Morpheus8 benefits

Dermatologists use Morpheus8 to improve the health and appearance of patients’ skin in many ways, addressing conditions like:

  • Wrinkles, creases, fine lines and deep lines
  • Acne and acne scarring
  • Sun damage
  • Sagging skin
  • Cellulite
  • Irregular skin tone and texture
  • Enlarged pores
  • Stretch marks

Besides versatility, it offers several other benefits, including:

Safety

Morpheus8 gets results without the need for, as well as the far greater expense of, a surgical procedure. It’s an FDA-approved resurfacing method that is safe for all types and tones of skin, with minimal risk for inflammatory hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin) or other complications. The treatments are fast and relatively painless and produce natural-looking skin changes. Morpheus8 treatment has very mild side effects that usually disappear quickly — from one day to three days — although some redness and swelling last longer in some cases.

Skin rejuvenation

Morpheus8 effectively remodels the skin layers, resulting in smoother, more even skin texture. It can also help patients achieve a more youthful appearance by minimizing the signs of many skin conditions.

Dermatologists can use Morpheus8 to treat smaller areas on the face and neck. It also can be used to target multiple areas of the body, including the abdomen, chest and buttocks.

By combining two effective treatments, it provides better and longer-lasting results than either treatment typically achieves on its own. Morpheus8 also can be combined with other treatments, such as PRP (platelet-rich plasma), for optimum effect.

Minimal downtime

Because the RF technology can target skin tissue at multiple levels, there is a reduction in treatment and recovery time. Morpheus8 causes little disruption to the skin surface, which results in less downtime compared to, for example, ablative laser treatments.

It’s a convenient option for those seeking anti-aging treatments and other common skin concerns with little hindrance to their daily routine. Many clients choose this innovative procedure at medical spas to achieve enhanced beauty results without the extended recovery periods typically associated with more invasive cosmetic procedures.

How Morpheus8 Works

Morpheus8 is a straightforward, safe and non-invasive way to rejuvenate the skin. The best results come from knowing what to expect before, during, and after the procedure.

Treatment process

Patients are advised to avoid exposure to direct sunlight for at least three days before their appointment. Avoid wearing any moisturizer on the day of the procedure, as the treatment area will be cleaned and coated with a numbing agent.

After the numbing agent takes effect, the Morpheus8 device is pressed into the skin across the treatment area. Patients may feel a slight pinch or warmth. Treatments usually take up to 60 minutes to complete, but the time depends on the size of the treatment area.

Post-treatment care

Patients may use a fan to cool the treatment area for 10 to 20 minutes. For best results and comfort, keep the treated area clean, but use lukewarm water without soap for the first 24 hours. After 24 to 72 hours, moisturizer can be used. Some redness, swelling, and moderate peeling may occur after treatment. This usually goes away in three to five days.

It’s generally recommended that patients avoid using makeup on treated areas for a couple days, but most people can return to work the day after treatment.

To avoid hyperpigmentation, it’s important to avoid direct sun exposure to the treatment area for a few weeks. When sun exposure is unavoidable, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher and a wide brimmed hat.

Morpheus8 results and expectations

The effects of Morpheus8 are usually most apparent about three weeks after therapy, although they may become visible within a few days. Optimal results become apparent as the skin’s collagen production and remodeling increase, and the process can continue to improve skin tightness and texture for up to three months.

Results may vary from patient to patient and according to the region that’s treated. It’s typical to schedule a series of sessions (usually up to three) with several weeks in between to achieve the desired results.
