About J. Ryan Williams, MD

Dr. J. Ryan Williams is a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon. He specializes in the treatment of colon and rectal conditions, with a particular focus on cancers of the colon, rectum, anus, and pelvic region. His expertise also extends to inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic floor disorders. Dr. Williams is certified as a console surgeon on the da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System, performing complex laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgeries such as transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for select colon and rectal polyps.

Dr. Williams earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky. He completed his general surgery residency and colon and rectal surgery fellowship at the University of South Florida (USF), where he also served as a research fellow with a focus on simulation and surgical education. His current research interests include colorectal cancer, the human gut microbiome, and pelvic floor disorders.

In addition to his board certifications in surgery and colon and rectal surgery, Dr. Williams is actively involved in several national medical organizations, including the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons. He has been recognized as one of the area’s top doctors for colon and rectal surgery by *Tampa Magazine*.
