Jeffery L. Johnson, MD, began his medical career in the United States Air Force, where he honed his skills in trauma and surgical critical care. He earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, and completed his residency in surgery at Keesler Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi. Dr. Johnson further advanced his expertise with fellowships in surgical critical care and trauma at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center.
His significant contributions to trauma care include a decade spent at the University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma Center, where he was a founding member of the Center for Sustainment of Trauma and Readiness Skills (CSTARS). This initiative trained military medics in civilian trauma centers, preparing them for deployment in war zones.
Dr. Johnson has received two Bronze Stars for Valor for his service in Blad, Iraq, and Bagram, Afghanistan. He is also an accomplished lecturer, sharing his knowledge on various aspects of trauma care and surgery. Throughout his career, he has been awarded several grants aimed at advancing new products and medical techniques in the field.
