Dr. Jennifer Ayscue is the chief of colorectal surgery, bringing over 20 years of expertise in the field. Previously, she served as vice chief of quality, safety, and outcomes for the department of surgery at a healthcare system in the Northeast. Dr. Ayscue has treated a variety of complex conditions, including rectal prolapse, fecal incontinence, colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, pelvic floor disorders, and anorectal diseases. Known for her empathetic approach, she prioritizes patient comfort, helping them navigate sensitive symptoms and diagnoses. She is also skilled in minimally invasive robotic surgery.
Dr. Ayscue earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. She completed her residency in general surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and a fellowship in colorectal surgery at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Her academic foundation also includes a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
Board-certified in both colon and rectal surgery as well as general surgery, Dr. Ayscue is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, where she serves on national committees. She also contributes to the editorial board for the Journal of Surgical Oncology and has been published on topics such as minimally invasive surgery for rectal cancer and fecal incontinence.
Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Ayscue enjoys tennis, reading, watching movies, and spending time with her children. She also volunteers for the American Cancer Society.
