About Nayana George, MD

Dr. Nayana George is a board-certified gastroenterologist. She provides comprehensive care to evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of conditions affecting the digestive tract and gastrointestinal organs. Dr. George emphasizes patient involvement in their care, ensuring they understand their medical conditions and play an active role in healthcare decisions.

Her areas of expertise include anemia, Barrett’s esophagus, biliary and gallbladder disease, celiac disease, chronic diarrhea and constipation, diverticulosis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), GI issues in teens and women, inflammatory bowel disease (including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), irritable bowel syndrome, liver issues (such as hepatitis, NASH, and cirrhosis), motility disorders, nutritional disorders, pancreatitis, peptic ulcer disease, and diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower endoscopy.

Dr. George received her medical training at Medical College, Trivandrum, in India. She completed her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock. She is board certified in internal medicine and board eligible for gastroenterology.

Throughout her career, Dr. George has published over 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals on various topics, including the management of complications of inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes in cirrhotics, and drug-induced liver disease. She actively participates in clinical research projects and is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterology Association. Outside of her professional life, Dr. George enjoys traveling, interior decorating, cooking, reading, and spending quality time with her husband and daughter.
