About W. Andrew Sprouse, MD

Dr. Sprouse is passionate about exercise-as-medicine and helping his patients live an active lifestyle. As a sports medicine doctor, he is specially trained in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of non-surgical musculoskeletal (bones, joints, muscles and tendons) injuries sustained during sports-related activities, as well as everyday aches and pains.

His expertise in Musculoskeletal (MSK) Ultrasound allows for a non-invasive assessment of muscles, tendons and joints in real time at the office, which leads to quicker diagnosis and more efficient care. Dr. Sprouse also specializes in the use of non-surgical treatments for musculoskeletal injuries

Head injuries and the potential for long-term effects are a major concern for athletes. Dr. Sprouse takes a holistic approach to concussion care to ensure his patients are treated properly and make a safe return to their activity.

When not caring for his patients, Dr. Sprouse enjoys traveling with his wife, spending time with his Pomskies, Penny and Bernadette, playing and watching soccer, playing golf and fly-fishing.

What is Sports Medicine?

W. Andrew Sprouse, MD

Regular exercise and other forms of physical activity provide numerous health benefits. In addition to physical fitness, weight maintenance, and increased bone and muscle strength, an active lifestyle can boost mental awareness, mood and overall well-being. What’s more, by accelerating the delivery of oxygen and essential nutrients to tissues throughout the body, sports participation can […]

Adipose—better known as fat—has a poor reputation among many people. This may be easy to understand when you consider that, aside from tobacco, there is possibly no greater threat to the collective health of the American population than obesity. And like tobacco, the effects of obesity are vast and deep; scientists have conclusively linked it […]

When the human body is injured, a natural healing response is triggered almost immediately. Stems cells and growth factors are activated to protect the injured area and repair the damage. Scientists are continually investigating new ways to amplify the body’s repair processes. For instance, many people are familiar with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, a type […]

Sports Medicine

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a form of regenerative medicine that utilizes the body’s ability to repair itself. For several decades, this innovative non-surgical treatment has been used to treat a variety of medical conditions, including several orthopedic applications.  Professional athletes and world-class competitors have benefited tremendously from this revolutionary treatment, but PRP injections may […]

All of these components must work seamlessly together to provide the body with the shape, support, stability and movement it needs for everyday living. If pain develops or an injury occurs, a physician may order a […]

These powerful impacts can cause […]
