Ultrasounds are fast, simple, and painless imaging studies that use sound waves to produce detailed images (sonograms) of the inside of the body. Specifically, these tests use high-frequency echoes to create images of a patient’s organs and soft tissue structures.

Our Department of Radiology offers comprehensive ultrasound services along with PET/CT scans, X-rays, MRIs, and other advanced forms of diagnostic imaging.

Because ultrasounds do not involve the use of ionizing radiation, they are most commonly used during pregnancy, although there are many other situations in which they are useful. For instance, ultrasound imaging can be used to diagnose heart conditions, blood clots, gallstones, endometriosis, and thyroid issues. Ultrasounds can also be used to guide the retrieval of tissue samples for laboratory testing.

Patients who require ultrasounds or other forms of radiological testing can turn to us in complete confidence, knowing that:

  • Our technicians are certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • Our radiologists are board-certified by the American Board of Radiology
  • Our practice is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR)
